There are many components to providing inclusive information services and resources to library patrons, from rewriting your library policy to designing new programs or revamping existing ones. In this mini-module, you have been introduced to ways in which library policies can be crafted with more inclusive language, and discovered how to do an environmental scan of your library design to determine areas of improvement. You have also read about several examples of inclusive and dedicated programs for a wide range of ages, the importance of resource guides in your library, and suggestions on how to introduce your staff to serving all patrons – including those with ASD - in a compassionate and respectful manner. In the following Topic we will continue our discussion of community needs assessments and explain how libraries can utilize community partners, as well as national and local resources to better serve patrons with ASD.
