In the first topic, you learned about what autism is, what does not cause autism, and what we know about the genetic and environmental factors that play a role in autism. In this topic, you will learn about:

  • Autism as a spectrum disorder;
  • Diagnostic criteria; and
  • The social/communication and restricted/repetitive characteristics of autism. 

 

If you are interested in doing so, you can learn about:

 

  • The process for getting an autism diagnosis; and
  • Other conditions that may be comorbid (co-occurring) with autism.
