In libraries, inclusion means embracing the diversity of your community and creating welcoming services for all students. In this module, you will learn techniques to craft inclusive lessons or programs for all students in your library, including those with disabilities. Topics discussed include: 1) motivating diverse learners using the ARCS Model, 2) Universal Design for Learning (UDL), 3) differentiating instruction to accommodate all learners, 4) collaborating with special and general educators, 5) designing inclusive lessons, 6) examples of inclusive programs from libraries across the country, and 7) recommended assessment methods for inclusive lessons.

You will have an opportunity to see the thought and effort that goes into planning inclusive instruction, including a sample lesson plan at the elementary, middle and high school levels. This is something that you will be able to model by designing your own collaborative inclusive lesson plan.
