Evaluating Accessibility

Based on what you have learned so far, you are in a good position to evaluate your own library for accessibility. Use the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) checklist and Universal Design (UD) checklist to evaluate your own library.  Make notes along the way about ways to improve its accessibility, as necessary, and how this could improve the experience of your library's users.

Watch and listen to the following PowerPoint (8 min 1 sec) where William Myhill describes how to use the ADA and UD checklists when evaluating a library. While a school library is depicted here, these checklists are useful resources for all librarians.  See transcript
