What materials would best serve the needs of your library users who have autism?
Because people on the autism spectrum are likely to struggle with recognizing social norms and cues, understanding figurative language, figures of speech, and sarcasm, and have difficulty with speech and language, information that would assist users in learning these skills should be a priority in an autism-friendly library.
Fortunately, there is an ever-growing market for such resources. There are a wealth of computer games, video-based learning tools, apps, and physical toys and objects designed for children with autism. (See this site's resource database)
