If conducting a needs assessment for the purpose of improving library services for people with autism and their families, you should consider partnering with community organizations that already serve these families or others with a shared purpose. These partners will already come up as stakeholders and will lend special expertise in the process if they are able and interested. The best way to serve a specific population is to include them in the decision making process. In the ASD community the phrase "nothing about us without us" has been used to stress the importance of inclusiveness in decision making processes.
